What In-House Manufacturing Actually Means

What In-House Manufacturing Actually Means

A lot of sign companies sell signs they do not build. Orders go to outside vendors, quality control becomes someone else's responsibility, and lead times depend on a schedule you have no visibility into. At United Signs, every sign is built in one of our six company-owned facilities, staffed by trained fabricators equipped to handle projects at any scale.

Because we control production internally, we can shift capacity between facilities to meet tight deadlines, keep quality consistent across every order, and give our engineering and installation teams direct access to fabrication records when they need them.

Why It Matters That We Own Our Production

Why It Matters That We Own Our Production

When a sign company outsources fabrication, you lose control of three things: quality, timeline, and accountability. If a sign arrives at the installation site with a defect, tracking down the problem and getting it resolved takes time you usually do not have. If the outside vendor falls behind schedule, your installation date moves with it.

At United Signs, every sign we sell is built by our own people in our own facilities. When a quality issue comes up, it is identified and resolved before the sign leaves the building. When a deadline is tight, we shift production across our six facilities to meet it. And when an installation crew needs to know something about how a sign was built, the fabrication records are available immediately.

That is what 100% in-house production actually means in practice.

What Our Manufacturing Process Actually Covers

Our production process covers every stage of fabrication, from raw material through final inspection, without relying on outside vendors. Here is what that includes:

UL Listed Production Standards
Our manufacturing processes meet and exceed Underwriters Laboratories' standards. Every illuminated sign we produce is UL listed, as required by most jurisdictions for permitted sign installations.

In-Process and Final Quality Control
Every sign is inspected before it leaves our facility, covering dimensional accuracy, finish quality, electrical function, and conformance to approved fabrication drawings.

Field Instruction Documentation
Every sign ships with field instruction documentation so installation crews have what they need on site, reducing errors and keeping installations on schedule.

Service History Tracking
We use a computer-driven system to track the service history of every sign we produce, giving clients and our field teams a documented record for maintenance, repairs, and future program updates.

Production Capacity Management
Our six company-owned facilities give us the ability to shift production capacity across locations to meet tight timelines. We confirm lead times before production begins and communicate proactively if anything affects the schedule.

Sustainable Manufacturing
United Signs was among the first sign manufacturers in the country to power a production facility with renewable solar energy. Our New Jersey facility operates on solar power, reducing the environmental impact of production without affecting output or quality.

Why Choose United Signs for Manufacturing

Six Facilities, One Standard
With six company-owned facilities across the United States, we have the capacity to handle large programs without sacrificing quality or lead time. Every facility operates to the same production standards, so the sign built in one location is identical to the one built in another.

UL Listed, Every Time
Every illuminated sign we produce is UL listed. This is not optional for most commercial sign permits, and it is built into our standard production process rather than treated as an add-on.

Documented From Start to Finish
Every sign we build has a production record, a field instruction package, and a service history file. This documentation benefits you at installation and throughout the life of the sign.

Built for Scale
Our production infrastructure is designed for national programs. We have built and shipped signage for multi-location rollouts across the country, and our internal systems are set up to manage that volume consistently.

Frequently Asked Questions

All signs sold by United Signs are manufactured in our own facilities. We do not outsource fabrication to outside vendors.

Our illuminated signs are UL-listed, which is required by most jurisdictions for permitted commercial sign installations.

We use documented fabrication drawings, standardized production processes, and in-process quality control inspections to ensure every sign in a program meets the same specifications. For national programs, master production records are maintained so additional signs can be built to the same standards at any time.

If you have an approved sign design from another source, we can review the drawings, confirm that the specifications are producible in our facilities, and manufacture the signs accordingly.

Our six company-owned facilities give us the ability to allocate production capacity across locations to meet tight timelines. We confirm lead times before production begins and communicate proactively if anything affects the schedule.
